Riceville Road and Warren Wilson Road are the primary ingress/egress routes to Riceville Valley. Traffic studies are being done. Accidents are daily occurrences especially on Riceville Rd. and more traffic will make our roads more dangerous to pedestrians and drivers
How will you escape a forest fire?
The proposed commercial development includes campsites with open fire pits. Many residents of the valley have witnessed forest fires quickly spreading which has necessitated multiple fire departments and helicopters to save our lives and property.
We are a friendly and welcoming group of neighbors but also value our right to peaceful enjoyment of our valley. The campground will bring in a large transient population who may not understand our concerns. Crime has gone up in the valley and this may add to that. Alcohol beverages will be allowed and sold on site
Imagine ambulances, firetrucks, and law enforcement speeding with sirens blaring frequently!
Mountain biking has its risk of personal injuries (wrist, clavicle, back, and leg fractures, concussions, etc). Local emergency departments will be called to assist.
More traffic=more noise of course. Open campsites will also bring noise from partying campers: loud conversations, blaring music, fireworks...
